Quick Read Edition – 5 Things I Am Watching Today

1. Strong Canadian Jobs Report

Canadian job numbers came in better than expected.  A little over 11,000 jobs were expected. The actual number came in at 18,200.

The unemployment rate also dropped.

So… does this mean the Bank of Canada hikes?

The currency market isn’t too convinced yet. The bond market reacted a little, but nothing too concerning.

2. SK Hynix Is Coming to the U.S.

SK Hynix, a memory company and South Korea’s most valuable company; will start trading on the U.S. market.  The stock is priced at $149.

Just remember: are you being sold to, or are you buying in?

Two very different things.

3. Oil Rejected a Major Level

If you’re watching the oil price chart, did you notice something interesting?

With the recent flare-ups between U.S. and Iran, oil did spike a little, but it rejected the 200-day moving average.

Let’s see.

Oil could potentially get hit hard if we get peace news.

4. Circle Could Change the Crypto Narrative For Now

Circle, the stablecoin issuer, got approval to operate as a trust bank in the U.S.

This has the potential to shake things up in the crypto world.

Watch for this sort of thing to become a narrative. Remember, not many narratives have worked for crypto recently.

5. Keep an Eye on These Trends

A relatively big move in the Japanese yenJapan’s finance minister is calling for pension funds to buy local.

Mark Carney is in Saudi Arabia.

Data center protests and delays continue to be ignored.

Boring stocks are starting to get some attention. Generally, that’s an indication that money is getting antsy in the hot names.
